Recently we set about organising a dinner night to say “Thank you” to the various people who have contributed and volunteered with our CCF Unit. We invited Mr Gerry, all our volunteers and helpers, and VIP guests such as the Regimental Sergeant Major from the Duke of York’s Royal Military School.
We had a top table formation with the Officers and VIPs sat at the top, and two legs that had the cadets and other guests sat amongst them.
The dinner comprised of a hot and cold buffet with wine for VIPs and squash for the others. Whilst this was going on there was a slide show of all that we had done in the last year to remind the cadets, and to show the others what we do in the CCF and what we stand for.
At the end of the meal, we congratulated some ex-Cadets and presented them with a gift. There were also some promotions such L/Cpl Carini to Corporal and Jessica Humphries and Joseph Biggs to L/Cpl.
The night was a great success and all invited had a great time. At the end of the meal we gave a moment of remembrance to the fallen from all wars and conflicts and the RSM recited a poem from an anonymous soldier from WW 1.
