On Friday October 9th, students who are currently involved in the joint International Production of 'Les Miserables', took to the White Cliffs stage at Astor College in a fundraising show with a difference. Broadway Backwards featured musical numbers sung by a range of students from Years 7-13 - but with a twist! The intention was to give performers the opportunity to perform a song of their choice, which they wouldn't necessarily be considered for. Students performed numbers from 'Wicked', 'Rent', 'Grease' plus many more and included an all male rendition of 'I Feel Pretty' from 'West Side Story' which closed the first act perfectly.
Through ticket sales and a generous raffle, the students and staff managed to raise over £400 which will go towards the installation of the revolving stage at Astor College. This will help ensure the production of Les Miserables is as true to original West End production as possible.
Many thanks to the staff and local companies, including the Performing Arts PTA, who helped support and run the evening.
