Homework

For year 7, 8 and 9

Each week, activities on Vocab Express are regularly set for homework (a minimum of 15 minutes per week):

  • to allow reinforcing, extending and consolidating of work done in class
  • to give pupils experience of working on their own, and to develop in pupils a sense of responsibility and commitment to their own learning
  • to involve parents/carers as partners in education
  • to prepare and revise for test/examinations
  • to provide focused and sustained support for less able pupils

Vocab Express provides an excellent and easy way of tracking students’ progress and also the ability to monitor and follow each individual’s progress.

Students have to log on to “vocab Express” with their individual login and password given at the beginning of the academic year. As homework, they will have to achieve one level - sometimes two for the most able - based on spelling or grammar.

For year 10 and 11

Students should allocate a minimum of 30 minutes per week of their Home Learning time. Home Learning tasks will be set on a regular basis. Occasionally, additional tasks may be set to consolidate the learning that has taken place in class and to reinforce the preparation of their controlled assessments.  Home Learning may consist of memorising speaking/writing individual presentation, reading comprehension tasks and short pieces of written work.

The French Department runs at lunchtimes and after school catch-up session for KS4.
