Astor Press Release GCSE Results 2016
Students and staff at Astor College are celebrating a 7% improvement in the number of students achieving 5A*-C grades including English and mathematics. The College is also delighted with the new Progress 8 measure that has been achieved which puts it firmly above the Government’s floor target figure.
The Principal, Lee Kane, stated "We are delighted with the overall achievements that our students have made this year. We have improved our performance in all areas, especially the 5A*-C measure and the number of students achieving at least 5 ‘good’ GCSE passes overall. We are particularly encouraged by the success of students of all abilities; there have been some incredible results by students in some really challenging circumstances.”
He added “We have made strong progress as a school over the last twelve months and, we look forward to continuing our drive to give students the best possible opportunities and to see their results continue to rise. I would like to congratulate both the students and staff for their achievements this year and we wish our students well for the future.”
Chris Russell, Chief Executive Officer of the DFA MAT, said he was extremely pleased with the progress that the school has made since last year and he congratulates all the students and staff on their hard work.
