The Astor Powerlifting Team was in Woking on Sunday to take part in the 2012 South East Championship.The championship was well supported and the Astor team put up a good show with first places in the under 18, under 20 and senior classes. The team also came home with two Best Lifter awards with Andrew Dixon taking the award in the Junior Class and Chris Simmonds in the Senior Class.
In the under 18 class Sam Pile took first place in the 66kg class with a squat of 130kg, bench press of 77.5kg and deadlift of 157.5kg. In the 93kg class Cameron Keyes took first with a 170kg squat, 95kg bench press and 190kg deadlift.
First place in the 105kg class went to Daniel Fletcher with lifts of 170kg squat, 105kg bench press and 200kg deadlift, and in the 120kg class went to David “Diddy” Cridland with lifts of 172.5kg squat, 120kg bench press and 200kg deadlift.In the under 20 group Andrew Dixon took first in the 74kg class with a squat of 147.5kg, 85kg bench press and 200kg bench press.
In the senior class Chris Simmonds came back from a break in powerlifting to take first in the 74kg class with a squat of 180kg, bench press of 145kg and deadlift of 212.5kg. In the 83kg class Craig Wilkins managed a very respectable second place with a squat of 155kg, bench of 132.5kg and a deadlift of 170kg.
