Commemeration of the Zeebrugge Raids 1918


Astor College CCF were involved in the Commemoration of the Zeebrugge raids in Dover on the 23rd April. The Commemoration was for the events from1918, when 1,800 soldiers and sailors lost there lives.


The soldiers and sailors where sent to attack Zeebrugge harbour, but when they got there, they come against numbers and military hardware that out numbered their own, and many lives where lost. 


So to celebrate and remember the fallen a bell is rung in Dover town centre to commemorate this event.

Astor College had the privilege of being invited to the celebration by the Dover Town Hall.
